College life — it's exciting... challenging... a little scary. It's definitely a change from high school! But the transition can be smooth when you make sure you're well prepared. Getting answers to the questions you ask your Guidance Counselor and College Recruiter can help. And, of course, when you've narrowed down your choices you'll want to visit those educational institutions for yourself. Here are some general things to keep in mind:

  • If you decide to attend a two-year college, with plans to ultimately attend a four-year institution, make sure the courses you take will transfer.
  • If you're certain engineering is for you, you may want to consider an institute of technology or polytechnic institute, which focus primarily on engineering and the sciences.
  • Some investigating will help you determine which engineering programs are more difficult than others. You want to pick the one that's the right level for you, whether it's highly competitive or easygoing with time for other activities. Bottom line, though, is the amount of time and effort you want to give to your studies.
  • School size, location, campus facilities and activities... all play a part in the success of your engineering technology education. So investigate, dig deep — use that problem-solving, curious and analytical mind of yours to discover which educational institution is right for you. It can make all the difference in the world.
