You'll have a certain amount of prestige because you're in a respected profession, and you'll experience more financial security than in many other professions because your skills will be in greater demand. As for the really distant future, who knows? You may apply the analytical and technological skills you've developed as an engineering technologist to an entirely different career — perhaps in politics, law, manufacturing or even medicine.
