There are many different sources of financial aid
available to you. Now that you're in college, you may
want to look into co-op and work-study programs that
can give you hands-on experience in your chosen
career field, as well as provide finances for college.
Visit your financial aid office to find out what
programs your school offers. Financial aid officers
or counselors are available to help you discover
whether you're eligible for federal and state assistance
based on need (which is determined by financial
information that you and your parents provide on a
special financial aid application).

The officer puts together a package of federal, state and college aid,
including loans and work-study programs. If you're
not happy with the financial aid package offered by
the counselor, delve a little deeper to find out how he
or she arrived at the numbers. You should feel
comfortable asking questions to help you get the
most aid available, and start with the financial aid
officer, who is always the point person for an
explanation.
